A Bihar woman who had disappeared during the Maha Kumbh has been rescued in Jharkhand after 15 days. The report has caused their family huge relief. Lakhpato Devi, a Balthari village of Kochas block resident, had accompanied her family to the Maha Kumbh on February 24 for the sacred dip but became lost in the huge crowd.

Her family searched for her desperately for two days but could not find her. Finally, after 15 days, reports came that she was recovered from Bahiyarpur Khurd, a village in Jharkhand's Garhwa district. With the help of village head Soni Devi, Lakhpato Devi was reunited with her family safely.

Shelter and assistance from local leader

Her husband, Virendra Baitha, spoke about how the 60-year-old lady had shown up at their home, acting as if disoriented and could not articulate her predicament. His wife offered her food and a place to stay before seeking the help of another village chief, Anjani Singh. They proceeded to post her picture on social media with the hope that she could be recognized by members of her family.

Lakhpato Devi’s son, Rahul Kumar, saw the viral post and immediately traveled to Jharkhand, where he recognized his mother. During her time in Garhwa, she had been given shelter and care by local resident Vishnu Dev Paswan.

Social media leads to reunion

Rahul was full of gratitude, saying, "Social media helped reunite me with my mom." His tearful remark underlines the potential of online platforms in reuniting separated loved ones when used properly.
